Instructions for the MCS Virtual Conference - July 25, 2000Receiving the Webcast
You must have the program RealPlayer (version 5.5 or later) installed on your computer to receive the webcast. If you don't have RealPlayer, you may download it by clicking the RealPlayer icon on the right-hand side of the conference Web page. Once you have downloaded and installed Realplayer, just click the "Get the Webcast" icon on that same page to begin receiving realtime video and audio. The picture you receive will be better or worse depending on the speed of your connection to the Internet. Participants with slower connections may experience some jerkiness in their reception.
Sending in Your Questions
Jane and Carol will depend on your participation during the webcast to keep the discussion going. Please join in by sending your questions and comments to them via email throughout the conference. You can do so by clicking the participation icon on the right-hand side of the conference Web page. This will allow you to email Jane Brown and Carol Pardun during the event.
Following the Discussion
In order to view the current question being addressed during the virtual conference, you may need to modify the Cache settings on your browser. This can be done quickly and easily by following the instructions below. You can go back in and change these settings anytime.
For Participants Using Netscape Communicator:
Step 1. Under the Edit menu, select Preferences.Step 2. Under Category section on the left side of the dialogue box, click once on the plus sign (+) in front of Advanced. Three options (Cache,Proxy, SmartUpdate) are displayed.
Step 3. Click once on Cache (The Cache menu displays in the gray area to the right).
Step 4. At the bottom of the Cache menu, under "Document in cache is compared to
document on network", select the Everytime option, and then click OK at the very
bottom of the page.
For Participants Using Internet Explorer 4.0:Step 1. Under the View menu, select Internet Options.Step 2. In the dialogue box under "Temporary Internet Files", click once on Settings. (The Settings menu displays).
Step 3. At the top, under "Check for new versions of stored pages", select the Every
visit to the page option. Then click OK at the bottom of the settings menu.Step 4. Finally, click OK at the bottom of the Internet Options Menu.
