Details: This internship program is open to photographers and picture editors. The six-month program is intended for students who have completed their junior or senior year of college. Graduate students also are eligible. Interns typically handle assignments ranging from spot news to features to sports. Candidates must submit a letter of application, a 500-word autobiographical essay, resume, portfolio with at least 12 images and three references with phone numbers, and SASE. We select one student each fall. In choosing its summer interns, The Oregonian often identifies top candidates through selective programs such as the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Editing Intern Program and the Kaiser Media Internship in Urban Health Reporting.
