In Engineering (S.P.A.C.E.)
Students Preparing To Advance Into Careers In Engineering (S.P.A.C.E.) Project allows The University of North Carolina - General Administration and its North Carolina Mathematics and Science Education Network Pre-College Program (NC-MSEN PCP) to expose high school students to innovative, valuable out-of-school time NASA - related STEM experiences that enrich their in-school time science and mathematics learning. This year round, multi-year academic enrichment helps students acquire the skills needed to enter and remain in the STEM pipeline. NASA-related STEM curriculum and resources are integrated into the following program components and activities: Ø Saturday Academy Sessions Ø Summer Scholars Program Ø Field Trips to NASA Sites Ø Interactive Web-based Experiences Ø Online Learning Communities Ø Virtual Career/Role Model Speakers Ø E-Mentoring with STEM Professionals Ø Academic Advising and Career Counseling Ø Hands-on, Inquire-based Engineering, Physics and Astronomy Classes Ø Seminars/Research Symposia Ø Leadership and Communication Skills Ø Immersion with University Arts and Sciences/Education Faculty Ø Robotics Classes and Competitions Ø Presentations/Exhibits/Displays Ø Teacher and Staff Standards-based Professional Development Ø Project-based Learning Ø Technology Integration into Mathematics and Science Curricula Ø Parent Involvement and Workshops Ø Scholarship and Financial Aid Workshops Ø Annual Awards and Recognition Program
