The Golden Mean is NC-MSEN's newsletter. The term "Golden Mean" is derived from Horace's Latin translation of "aurea mediocratas," which means a sensible way of doing things or the avoidance of extremes. Whether in the classroom or in life, we need a balance of mathematics and science; the Golden Mean shows how both mathematics and science are mixtures of experimentation, analysis, and reasoning that give us clues to how the world around us works.
