2004 MSEN Day

May 15, 2004

The 18th MSEN Day 2004 was hosted by Fayetteville State University (FSU), Fayetteville, NC, Saturday, May 15, 2004.  The theme was "Excellence: The Common Denominator of Success."  The participating Pre-College Program sites were Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  There were approximately 650 NC-MSEN Pre-College Program students from the six sites participating in competitions such as mathematics and science testing, bottle rockets, egg drop, poster art, write-it, do-it, engineering and design, mystery architecture, picture this, quiz bowl, and an oratorical contest.

Recognizing student achievement during the awards ceremony was an exciting event for each NC-MSEN Pre-College Program sites.  Students eagerly accepted individual and team awards.  In the spirit of competition, students also congratulated their peers who received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals in their respective competitions.  This year, Fayetteville State University, the host site, was awarded the first place of receiving the most awards overall. The second place went to Elizabeth City State University and third place went to North Carolina State University. 2004 MSEN Day was a great success. The six NC-MSEN Pre-College sites prepare for next year's MSEN Day event at Elizabeth City State University. Winston-Salem State University, a newly
established NC-MSEN Pre-College Program, will be joining the other program sites a the
2005 MSEN Day,
with a total of seven Pre-College Programs competing in the annual state-wide
competition.
