Dean, School of Nursing
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications and nominations for the position of dean of the School of Nursing (SON). The dean of the School of Nursing reports to the provost and represents the school among various constituencies throughout the University, state, region, nation and world. Consistent with the goals of the university, the SON has created an exemplary climate of inclusion in its service, education, and research missions, and seeks a dean who will foster a vibrant, diverse academic community. The School has more than 7,000 alumni and recently completed the Carolina First Campaign, raising more than $15 million.
The successful candidate must possess distinguished credentials of scholarly accomplishment in education, research and service consistent with an academic appointment at the rank of professor with tenure. In addition, the candidate must have experience in an academic leadership role and be capable of articulating a vision consistent with being one of the foremost leaders for nursing in the twenty-first century. Tenure/Tenure-Track Position in Oncology Nursing
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center invites you to join the faculty of a nationally ranked School of Nursing in the oldest and one of the best public universities in the country and The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only public comprehensive cancer center for the State and the people of North Carolina. This jointly funded initiative is made possible by UNC's University Cancer Research Fund, established by the North Carolina General Assembly in to advance cancer research in North Carolina. A major purpose of the Fund is promote research across the broad continuum of cancer prevention and control and cancer epidemiology by recruiting outstanding faculty to enhance and expand UNC's current excellence in these areas. The Fund will grow to $50 million per year in 2009.

The School of Nursing offers top-ranked baccalaureate, master's, doctoral and post-doctoral programs, and houses the Center for Research on Chronic Illness in Vulnerable Populations and Center for Innovation in Health Disparities Research, in addition to a state-of-the-art Biobehavioral Laboratory, Center for Clinical Education, Center for Instructional Technology, and Research Support Center. Our School offers NIH-funded pre- and post-doctoral fellowships in "Interventions for Preventing and Managing Chronic Illness" and "Health Care Quality and Patient Outcomes." The Lineberger Cancer Center is one of 39 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers with two Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) in Breast and in GI cancers and a UNC Lineberger Survivorship Program, A LIVESTRONG Center of Excellence, made possible by The Lance Armstrong Foundation and The V Foundation for Cancer Research. UNC ranked in the top 15 institutions nationally in cancer research funding. The University is also home to numerous interdisciplinary centers and institutes for research in such areas as genome sciences, health services research, comprehensive cancer care, child development, adolescent health, aging, alcohol studies, health promotion and disease prevention, health communication, and ethics.
We are seeking applicants with a strong record of oncology related research and evidence of teaching and practice in oncology nursing. Applications from scholars are welcome if they have established and competitive programs of research. Areas of interest include but are not limited to survivorship, prevention and control, health services research, dissemination, and communication. Responsibilities include teaching and mentoring in the undergraduate, master's, or doctoral programs, maintaining an ongoing, funded program of research, and working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines within the School of Nursing, other Health Professional Schools, and Cancer Center. Requirements include an earned doctorate, eligibility to obtain a license to practice nursing in North Carolina, evidence of scholarship sufficient to qualify for a tenure-track faculty position, and experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate or graduate students.

Endowed Professorship: End of Life
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing invites applications for an endowed chair position. Nationally-recognized scholars with established programs of extramurally-funded research are sought to join us in developing the science of the future. Individuals should be committed to continuing an active program of funded interdisciplinary research and providing mentorship to faculty and students in research and scholarship. An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and qualifications for the rank of professor with tenure are desired. The Professorship is for a period of five to ten years; a competitive salary, research release time, and a research stipend will be offered.
THE BEERSTECHER-BLACKWELL DISTINGUISHED PROFESSORSHIP: The Beerstecher-Blackwell Professor should have a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research on end-of-life care, palliative care, or the management of life threatening illness at any point in the lifespan.
The individual selected for this position will join a strong cadre of faculty who are internationally known for their research on preventing and managing chronic illness, on reducing health disparities, and on the organization and delivery of quality nursing care. The School is currently ranked fourth in annual research funding received from NIH. Faculty and students enjoy rich support for their research from the School of Nursing's research centers and Biobehavioral Laboratory and the University's 78 interdisciplinary research centers and institutes (e.g., Carolina Center for Genome Sciences, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Institute on Aging, Center for AIDS Research, Center for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention). The School is part of a comprehensive Research I academic and health affairs campus and offers undergraduate, masters, doctoral, post-doctoral and lifelong learning programs; its academic programs are consistently ranked among the leading schools of nursing nationally.Chapel Hill is part of the Research Triangle Area which has been recognized as one of the best places in the country to live.
