Hawksbill turtles are perhaps the most tropical in distribution, living on or around coral reefs. Near the US, the adults are found primarily in Caribbean waters, but these turtles may also range further north along the coast of Florida.

As hatchlings, hawksbills are omnivorous. However, as adults these turtles have a very specialized diet, feeding primarily on sponges.
