Patrick
graduated in 2007 from Georgetown University in philosophy
and history. His primary interest is in the history of early
modern philosophy. Specifically he enjoys exploring the British
(Locke, Berkeley, Hume) and French (Descartes, Malebranche)
traditions and the interactions between the two. Seventeenth
century immaterialism is also of interest. He also enjoys
utilitarianism, applied ethics (especially animal, environmental
and bioethics) and the history of ethics. He was born and
raised in Portland, Oregon, still his home at heart. He’s
currently learning Latin and plans to learn French as well.
Outside of philosophy, he enjoys music (hard rock and metal),
travel, and reading.
