Heather is a second year graduate student. She earned in B.A. in Philosophy from Wheaton College (Massachusetts) in May 2006. Her current research interests involve moral intuitions. Specifically, she is concerned with how they shape moral theory. To this end, Heather’s interests also involve epistemology, philosophy of mind, ethics, and moral psychology. She is currently trying to figure out in what ways, if at all, Joseph Butler’s views regarding intuitions have any purchase given discoveries in contemporary moral psychology. Though it is not (despite Butler) her main focus of research, Heather has a special place in her heart for early modern philosophy. Heather is also a graduate fellow at the Parr Center for Ethics.
Heather’s interests outside of philosophy include (but are not necessarily limited to): running, biking, swimming, triathlons, finally conquering a marathon, climbing every mountain she can (which, of course, includes camping), juvenile diabetes research and science fiction.
