Pilvi Toppinen will be visiting UNC-CH from University of Helsinki, Finland for the academic year 2005/2006. Her research interests belong primarily to the area of political philosophy. Her Master's Thesis (2003) was titled "Deliberative Democracy and the Challenge of Difference" (in Finnish). Pilvi's publications include "Critical Reflections on Social Justice and Recognition" (Res Publica: A Journal of Social and Legal Philosophy, forthcoming), and among her recent presentations are "Perspectival Democracy and Social Justice" (IVR, 2005) and "Deliberative Democracy and the Problem of Incommensurability" (ALSP, 2004).
