Piers
Turner is a fifth-year graduate student focusing on political
philosophy and moral epistemology. He received a B.A. in philosophy
from Yale University, and a Master's of Science in the philosophy
and history of science from the London School of Economics.
His dissertation offers a moral-epistemic justification of
liberal political institutions. His M.A. thesis on epistemic
normativity was entitled "Epistemic Deontology and the
Consequentialist Consensus". Piers organizes the Carolina
Philosophy Retreat,
which takes place in the Adirondack Mountains of New York
State, near Piers' hometown of Syracuse, NY. Piers also served
as the first Outreach Coordinator for the department.
