Synopsis
The Rockefeller University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program is intended to provide a meaningful research experience for qualified, highly motivated college students. SURF applicants should currently be in their sophomore year or junior year, majoring in biology or chemistry, and have an interest in a career in basic biomedical research.

Centered around 75 cutting-edge laboratories working in a broad range of fields like cell and developmental biology, genetics, immunology and infectious diseases, neuroscience, structural biology, biophysics, and biochemistry, The Rockefeller University fosters a collaborative research environment and provides an innovative educational experience.  Opportunities abound for undergraduates to explore virtually any area of research they can image.

Applicants to the SURF Program must submit: 1. The completed application form  2. A two-page summary which describes the applicant's academic background, scientific interests, research experience, and career goals.  Applicants, whenever possible, should discuss why they would benefit from the SURF program.  3. An official transcript sealed by the university registrar  4. Two letters of recommendation from professors or mentors who can evaluate the applicants performance based on performance in science courses or recent research projects.  All materials must be sent in one envelope.
