The Summer Undergraduate Research Program at the Medical University of South Carolina provides the opportunity for well qualified students to undertake an original research project as an apprentice to an active research scientist in fundamental science research. This experience will enable students to build skills and understanding to prepare them for graduate school and careers as research scientists.One major focus for research in 2004 is in the field of neurobiology with emphasis on cellular signal transduction, cardiovascular sciences, Structural and Chemical Biology, as well as Cross-Training of Physical, Mathematical and Engineering Students.
A complete list of projects will be sent to selected applicants.
Guidelines
Awards are made to college sophomores and juniors who are considering a career in basic scientific research. Students underrepresented in the sciences are especially encouraged to apply. Send the following application materials to the address below: 1. Current transcript from all colleges attended 2. Letter of recommendation from a college faculty member 3. Letter of application should include reasons for applying, description of career goals and how this experience would fit into these goals, past experiences which have led to interest in research, specific areas of interest, etc. Include both school and home telephone numbers and e-mail address for prompt notification.Contact
