Lecturer

Assistant Professor in Quantitative Methods And/Or Formal Theory

The Department of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track position in quantitative methods and/or formal theory at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in the Fall Semester 2009. Candidates are expected to have strong technical skills and to offer courses in advanced methods at the graduate level. We are particularly interested in a scholar who combines an active research agenda in political methodology with applications to substantive problems in political science. Richard Krasno Distinguished Professorship in the
Politics of Conflict and Security

The Department of Political Science invites applications for the Richard Krasno Distinguished Professorship in the politics of conflict and security, to start as early as July 1, 2008. Competitive candidates will have strong records of research in the field of peace and conflict studies, broadly defined to include security studies, conflict and conflict resolution, peace science, and other related areas of research. The position will be jointly appointed with the Curriculum of Peace, War, and Defense (PWAD), an interdisciplinary community of faculty (http://www.unc.edu/depts/pwad), and relevant courses will be cross-listed in the PWAD Curriculum. The Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity

As part of a continuing commitment to advance scholars from underrepresented groups in higher education, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity is pleased to announce the availability of postdoctoral research appointments for a period of two years. The purpose of the Program is to develop scholars from underrepresented groups for possible tenure track appointments at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Postdoctoral scholars will be engaged full-time in research and may elect to teach only one course per fiscal year.
Fields: Applications for study in any discipline represented on the campus are welcome. Please specify your discipline of interest. Stipend: $36,282 per calendar year. Funds are available for research expenses, including travel. Eligibility: Applicants who will have completed the doctoral degree not later than July 1, 2009 and no earlier than July 1, 2005 are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. This program is funded by the State of North Carolina. The primary criterion for selection is evidence of scholarship potentially competitive for tenure track appointments at the University of North Carolina. Application materials: A complete application will include curriculum vitae, sample publications and/or dissertation chapters, three letters of recommendation, an application, a statement of research plans and a separate statement on why you should be selected for this program.
