The Summer Institute in Political Psychology (SIPP) Dear Colleagues, We hope you will call your students
attention to SIPP 2003, which will be held from 11 July to 1 August
at the Ohio State University. What it is--The Summer Institute in
Political Psychology (SIPP) provides an opportunity for students of
political science and psychology to learn how the two disciplines
can inform work in both fields both theoretically and methodologically.
This years program will be useful for both political psychology
novices and those who have already been introduced to the inter-disciplinary
field. Important concepts from both disciplines will be introduced
to participants through readings to be completed prior to the Institute
and lectures given during the first few days of the Institute. Thereafter,
the Institutes focus will be on examples of successful interdisciplinary
research presented by prominent scholars, and on the design andexecution
of effective interdisciplinary work. What well be doing--Among this
years speakers will be John Sullivan, Philip Tetlock, Barry
ONeill, George Marcus, Paul Sniderman, James Sidanius, Faye
Crosby, Jon Krosnick, Kathleen McGraw, Don Sylvan, Richard Herrmann,
and Marilynn Brewer. Substantive topics will include emotion in political
judgment, cognition, social identity, image theory, stereotyping and
race, the role of justice in decision-making, problem representation,
and the importance of honor and symbolism. When and where-- To find out more-- We look forward to a highly successful
Institute, and encourage all who are interested in exciting interdisciplinary
work to join us in Columbus this summer. Please share this invitation
with anyone who you think might find SIPP to be an interesting and
useful experience. 361 Hamilton Hall • CB# 3265 • UNC at Chapel Hill • Chapel Hill, NC • 27599-3265 • Phone: (919) 962-3041 • Fax: (919) 962-0432 |
