The nationally ranked Department
of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill has long been recognized for its contributions to the study of
politics. The department continues to build on its distinguished history
as an integral component of the nation's oldest state university by
vigorously pursuing its mission to achieve excellence in a range of
scholarly and educational endeavors.Our
faculty
members are at the forefront of their diverse areas of expertise
and have published noted books and articles on an array of topics
central to concerns in all the major fields of political science.
We excel at the
undergraduate
level where hundreds of students each year are introduced to a
broad spectrum of political studies. We offer opportunities to individualize
and a wide selection of courses, from the basics to the specialized.
At the
graduate
level, we count some of the nation's most promising scholars among
our students. Many have already begun to make their marks on the field
