Nicole Darnall (graduated 2002).
Nicole has just accepted a position as Assistant Professor
in George Mason University's Department of Environmental Science & Policy. She was previously an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at North Carolina State University. She holds masters degrees in public policy and economics from Vanderbilt University and The University of Texas, respectively. Her principle research interests consider the environmental innovations of business, how public policy can encourage environmental innovation, and the role of public participation in environmental decision-making. Her research won the 2003 Academy of Management, Organizations and Natural Environment Division and Sage Publications Best Dissertation Award and the 2003 Best Conference Paper Award at the Academy of Management (Organizations and Natural Environment Division). The National Science Foundation, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (in Paris), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have sponsored her research related to businesses' environmental innovations and how various policy tools can be used to stimulate more widespread innovative behaviors in the public and private sectors. A former economist for the U.S. Forest Service and researcher at Resources for the Future, Nicole teaches courses in environmental policy, quantitative methods, public policy analysis, and applied political economy. |
