New faculty member hired

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Sy-Miin Chow will be joining the Quantitative Psychology Program as Assistant Professor in July, 2007. Dr. Chow received her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2004. Her research interests focus on the theory and application of linear and nonlinear dynamical systems models for analysis of repeated measures data.

Abigail Panter receives Sitterson Teaching Award

Dr. Abigail Panter, Associate Professor in the Quantitative Psychology Program, is this year's recipient of the J. Carlyle Sitterson Freshman Teaching Award, which goes to a faculty member teaching first-year students and carries a one-time stipend of $5,000.

Li Cai receives Gulliksen Psychometric Fellowship from ETS

Li Cai, a 4th-year grad student in the Quantitative Psychology Program and an advisee of Robert MacCallum and David Thissen, has been named by Educational Testing Service as Harold Gulliksen Psychometric Research Fellow for the academic year 2007-2008.  The fellowship will support Li during his dissertation work, and he will also have the opportunity to participate in the summer research program at ETS this year, working with people in the ETS Center for Statistical and Psychometric Theory and Practice.  The Gulliksen Fellowship is a distinguished award with a long history, and is a great honor for Li and also for the Thurstone Psychometric Lab.

Sonya Sterba receives NRSA Pre-Doctoral Award

Sonya Sterba, an advisee of Dan Bauer, has received an NRSA pre-doctoral award that will provide up to three years of support for her work on measurement, modeling, and sampling issues in the study of comorbidity in developmental psychopathology.
