This grant was among the seven finalists. Five grants were awarded.

Recreation leadership and group dynamics (Spring, 1999) - This course examined theories pertaining to leadership and group dynamics and their application within the field of recreation and leisure studies.
Women, Work & Leisure (Spring, 1999) - This undergraduate seminar focused on understanding the foundations of feminism and addressed the ways in which feminism and gender studies can broaden and extend our understanding of "leisure".
Introduction to Leisure (Fall, 1998) - Undergraduate survey course on the history and philosophy of leisure and an overview of leisure services delivery systems and trends.
Leisure in a diverse society (Fall, 1998) - A transdisciplinary seminar that examines leisure vis-a-vis the construction of seven markers of identity: gender, race, class, sexuality, religion, age and disability.
Program Planning (Spring, 1997). I taught an introduction to program planning course for sophomores and juniors in the Leisure Services Division.
Volunteer Management and Philanthropy (Spring, 1997). This graduate seminar focuses on understanding the principles of volunteer management within non-profit organizations. Students were taught the basics of how to recruit, train, orient, evaluate and recognize volunteers at their respective agencies.
Fundraising and Grant Writing for Non-profit Organizations (Fall, 1996). I taught this graduate level course which focuses on the following topics: how to plan, implement and evaluate special events and direct mail. Students also learn how to research sources for grants and how to develop a grant for $50,000.00.
History and Philosophy of Leisure (Fall, 1996). I am currently teaching this graduate level seminar which focuses on the history and philosophy of leisure and on contemporary leisure theory and its applications in the field of leisure services.
Women, Work and Leisure (Spring, 1996, 1997). I taught this graduate/undergraduate seminar which focused on understanding the foundations of feminism and addresses the ways in which feminism and gender studies can broaden and extend our understanding of "leisure".

Coordinated and conducted a workshop with 25 faculty, staff, administrators and students of Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, on issues and concerns relative to working with lesbian/gay/bisexual college students. (February, 1997).
Coordinated and conducted a workshop on Grantwriting which was co-sponsored by the Family and Children's Council of Black Hawk County. Twenty-five people participated in a half-day workshop on grantwriting for beginners. (December, 1996).
Coordinated and co-lead a workshop on research and evaluation which was co-sponsored by the Boys/Girls Club of Waterloo. Seventeen people participated in a half-day workshop co-led by Susan Hudson and myself. (October, 1996).
Served as a consultant and appeared in the NBC (KRON-TV) documentary: "Growing Up and Coming Out" about lesbian/gay youth (1991) in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Spring, 1986 Crew member, Farm & Wilderness. Located in southern Vermont, Farm & Wilderness is a quaker foundation which sponsors six summer camps for children and youth. Volunteers assist in the building and maintenance of the six camps.
