Why You Should Exercise!

Any Activity is Good

Remember any increase in physical activity can help prevent medical problems and make you feel better.

According to the Surgeon General's report, just 30 minutes of moderate activity added up over an entire day can help prevent disease.

Research about TBI and exercise

Research shows a broad range of possible benefits of exercise for people with brain injuries:
  • People with TBI who exercised had fewer physical, emotional and cognitive complaints and symptoms, such as sleep problems, irritability, forgetting and being disorganized.
  • Non-exercisers with TBI complained of more cognitive problems or symptoms than did those who exercised, suggesting that exercise may improve abilities such as memory, thinking and the like.
  • Exercisers with TBI were less depressed.
  • People with TBI who exercised viewed themselves as being healthier than non-exercisers.
  • Exercisers with TBI more often were engaged in school or work and got around the community more freely.
