| Welcome!
The UNC Department of Religious Studies is dedicated to the
study of the world's religions as historical and cultural
phenomena. In large introductory classes and small upper-level
seminars, students and faculty explore religious traditions
and their history, sacred texts, belief systems, rituals,
and institutions.
The Department offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in Religious Studies;
undergraduate minors in Religious Studies and in Christianity and Culture;
an honors program for undergraduate majors; as well as frequent public
lectures and continuing education seminars.
