The UNC Department of Religious Studies is dedicated to the study of the world's religions as historical and cultural phenomena. In large introductory classes and small upper-level seminars, students and faculty explore religious traditions and their history, sacred texts, belief systems, rituals, and institutions.

The Department offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in Religious Studies; undergraduate minors in Religious Studies and in Christianity and Culture; an honors program for undergraduate majors; as well as frequent public lectures and continuing education seminars.
