District 19 held its annual meeting on June 16, 2009 at the Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA). Guests included current SEANC officers who gave us the latest news from the General Assembly. The Member of the Year Award was presented to Angela Lyght.

Our scholarship winner was Barbara Adams who is attending Appalachian State University, majoring in English. Her parents, Robert and Gwen Adams, were present to see Barbara receive the award. 

Rex Foster, Director of Finance for SEANC, gave a detailed report on how SEANC works on behalf of North Carolina employees. His presentation focused on “Building Stronger Communities: Quality Public Services and Good Jobs.”

The election of officers and delegates for 2009-2010 was held. Marie Tate was re-elected Chair and Angela Lyght 1st Vice Chair. Inetha Cousin continues as 2nd Vice Chair, Hazel Lunsford Bylaws Chair, Wendy Watkins Auditing Chair, and Ruth Lewter EMPAC Chair. Gerald Green was elected Policy Platform Chair. Portia Holman-Jenkins will be Nominating Chair.
