Masters Program Doctoral Program

Graduate School requirements for the M.A.:   30 hrs (24 in residence),  with at least 18 hrs in the major field. At least half the courses should be at the 700 level or substitutes the Department approves.
General department requirements for the M.A.:   30 hrs, 27 in coursework, 3 in thesis. One academic year of residence credit. Reading knowledge of a modern foreign language. Year-end student progress reviews. Thesis. Final oral exam which will include thesis defense; students concentrating on Russian literature will also be tested on their mastery of MA-level material on the Department's Reading List of Russian Literature.
