Professor Paul Debreczeny died on March 18, 2008. 

 

Professor Debreczeny, our UNC Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Russian and Comparative Literature, was not only an internationally recognized scholar of Russian literature, but also one of the founding members of UNC's Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, and a truly beloved member of our faculty.   As all of us who knew him will attest, he cared deeply and passionately about all of his students, and he was a wonderful and generous colleague. 

A memorial service is planned for Friday, May 16, at 11 am, in the
University Room, Hyde Hall, on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus.  All are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to Valerie Bernhardt.
