Our presenter will be Jenifer Parks, a PhD candidate at UNC-Chapel Hill. Under the direction of Donald J. Raleigh, she is currently finishing her dissertation, “Red Sport, Red Tape: Sports Bureaucracy, the Olympic Games, and Political Practices in the Soviet Union, 1952-1980.” Research for her dissertation was funded by a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program grant (2006-2007), a grant from the Olympic Studies Centre Postgraduate Researcher Grant Programme, International Olympic Committee, (September 2006), a Mowry Dissertation Fellowship from the History Department, and a Doctoral Travel Grant from the University Center for International Studies.

coming from the east:
Turn LEFT onto S. Columbia St. from Franklin St. Follow the road through
a couple of lights, it will force you to go right at the intersection by
the Carolina Inn, and then take a LEFT turn onto Pittsboro St. You will
pass the Carolina Inn on your left. At the next light, you will see the
building in front of you. It is next door to the School of Social Work
and behind the Pharmacy School. There is free parking after 5pm in the
lot below the building, with entrance on McCauley Street.
