Professor
Hope is a visiting professor in Williams College. He teaches courses
in Russian language and literature, as well as the "Nature of Narrative"
course for the comparative Literature department. He specializes in
Russia's literary encounter with the Islamic world, and has presented
papers on various aspects of Russian Orientalist writing and scholarship.
Other areas of interest include the Romantic movement and Russian travel
literature. In addition to Russian, Professor Hope has worked in Czech
and Farsi.
