Irina Reyfman is Professor of Russian Literature in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Columbia University. Her specialties include eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Russian literature, Gogol, Pushkin, and the semiotics of culture. She is the author of the books Ritualized Violence Russian Style: The Duel in Russian Culture and Literature (Stanford, 1999) and Vasilii Trediakovsky: The Fool of the 'New' Russian Literature (Stanford, 1991).
