  • to cross the borders between Eastern and Western European history;

  • to promote a European history that reflects the borders of the new Europe and thinks beyond them;

  • to intensify comparative and transnational research that systematically includes the gender dimension;

  • to develop further the theoretical and methodological debates in this field in the Research Triangle region.

    The workshop series is meant to bring together interested scholars from the Triangle Area and beyond, provide them with an exciting opportunity to present and discuss the findings of recent research. The workshop series also promises to make a major contribution to the training of undergraduate and graduate students, because the workshops will be open to both. Senior Ph.D. Candidates will be encouraged to present their work in progress in the workshop.Sponsored by the Center for European Studies, the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies, the Curriculum in Women's Studies, and the UNC Department of History.
