Renee M. Earle, a career Foreign Service Officer with the United States Department of State, has been Diplomat in Residence at Duke University since September 2006. Her previous assignment was Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the American Embassy in Paris from 2002-2006. Previous diplomatic assignments include Deputy Director of Public Diplomacy in the European Bureau at the Department of State in Washington, Turkey, USSR/Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Czech Republic, and Chief of the Central Asia Division at the Voice of America. Her languages are French, Russian, Turkish, Czech, and German. She has received the State Department's Superior Honor Award three times. Ms. Earle was born in Munich, Germany, and grew up in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
