Writing:
Write a letter to
author Gloria Whelan, including three questions you have about the plot or the
writing of the book.
Pretending to be
Misha, write three entries from a journal he might have kept during the time of
the events in the book.
Art:
Design a new cover
for Angel on the Square. Include the title, author, an original
picture as well as a summary of the book on the back.
Design a timeline
to depict major events in the book.
Technology:
Create a web page
that illustrates St. Petersburg, the main characters, and the main events of Angel
on the Square.
Create a PowerPoint
presentation about Katya’s experiences in the book.
Plan and videotape
a movie trailer for a film version of Angel on the Square.
Acting:
Create and act out
a television news broadcast covering one of the many historical events
addressed in the book.
Write a play based
on a scene from Angel on the Square. Act it out in front of the class or videotape
your play and show it to the class.
Music:
Choose music by St.
Petersburg-related composers to create a soundtrack for Angel on the Square.
Make note of the composers and the
musical pieces you choose, describe what scene or scenes each would be heard
in, and explain how the music would express a theme, character, or mood in the
story.
