What are the core requirements of this degree?
Required courses are History 161 and162 and four semesters of Russian or East European language such as Bulgarian, Czech, Macedonian, Polish or Serbo-Croatian.
Core requirements are Slavic 101 (Introduction to Slavic Civilizations) and RUES 260 (Crisis and Change).
In addition, students need one to three courses from each of the following groups (five total):
(A) Slavic Languages and Literatures
(B) Russian and East European History
(C) CLAS 418, 246; ECON 267, 468; POLI 235, 236, 438; RUES 263, 468,694, 699; or other courses approved in writing by the Director.
What kinds of careers are open to graduates with this degree?

This degree also prepares you for graduate work in various disciplines.
Can I use study abroad for credits in this curriculum?
The Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies sponsors study abroad programs in Prague, Czech Republic which may be substituted for certain course credits.
In addition, both the Center and the Study Abroad Office have information about other study abroad programs to Hungary, Poland, and other East European and Eurasian countries. With approval from Admissions and the Director, Robert Jenkins, certain of these study abroad programs can transfer to course credits.
