World View has partnered with Rotary International to offer two exciting programs to enhance your school's global education programs!

Rotary Global WebFriends

For the past five years, World View has arranged e-correspondence connections between Rotary Scholars living and studying abroad and North Carolina classes and schools. Formerly known as Rotary E-Pals, the new Rotary Global WebFriends program provides the following:

● Correspondence from every region of the globe
● First-hand accounts of life in another world region and culture
● Global content and context for any grade or discipline
● Increased global awareness for both teachers and students
● Concepts and curriculum supported by the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
● New resource webpage including country profiles and grade/subject specific lesson plans

To begin your new global connection, visit our program webpage at www.unc.edu/world/webfriends.htm
For more information, please contact: Carina Brossy at 919/843-7793 or cbrossy@unc.edu.

Not ready to connect your class to an individual scholar or want to correspond with a Scholar in more than one region of the world? Try participating in the Scholar at-Large program. The Scholar at-Large is a Rotary Scholar who has volunteered to share his or her experiences with all through a World View-Rotary blog.

INTRODUCING THE NEW WORLD VIEW-ROTARY SCHOLAR AT-LARGE

Welcome Mary Coffman, a Durham native who will be living in Argentina!

Mary Coffman grew up in Durham, North Carolina back when the downtown still smelled like sweet tobacco. She then went on to study English and Spanish at Kenyon College in Ohio. After traveling to Peru and living in Spain, Mary moved to Costa Rica where she taught English to international students. She then spent half-a-year traveling through South America, staying with friends and families, and learning about the sources of our resources. In 2008, Mary worked as a Case Manager with Catholic Charities at Centro la Comunidad in Burlington, NC. She will be working towards an MA in International Relations at the University of Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina for 2009 and half of 2010.

To share Mary's experiences, follow her adventures, or ask her questions about life and school in Argentina, please see the World View-Rotary blog: http://www.worldview-rotaryscholar.blogspot.com/
