Community-Acquired Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA)

North Carolina Consensus Guideline for Management of Suspected Community-Acquired Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (STIs) can be downloaded or printed by clicking this link or the page image below.

This consensus guideline was developed by the NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) in conjunction with the Public Health and Institutional Task Force for Best Practices, North Carolina, December 2005. In addition, it is supported by the North Carolina Public Health Department, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology - North Carolina Chapter, and the North Carolina Infectious Disease Society. It was modified from "Interim Guidelines for Management of Suspected Staphylococcus aureus Skin and Soft Tissue Infections" from the Infectious Diseases Society of Washington, Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department, Public Health-Seattle and King County, and Washington State Department of Health, September 2004.

The Public Health and Institutional Task Force for Best Practices, North Carolina, reviewed additional documents about CA-MRSA from Washington State and Wisconsin and agreed to provide them as references. These are the documents from Washington State:

Wisconsin's information is entitled "Community Associated Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (CA MRSA): Guidelines for Clinical Management and Control of Transmission."
