Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology/Courses

This week-long course is intended to provide infection preventionists in hospitals with the opportunity to develop their knowledge of healthcare-associated infections and to improve their skills in clinical surveillance. Cost is $500 for NC residents, $550 for out-of-state residents.
NOTE: Successful completion of BOTH “Infection Control Part I: Clinical Surveillance of Healthcare-Associated Infections” and “Infection Control Part II: The Infection Preventionist as an Environmentalist” offered by SPICE will meet the requirements of the NC Infection Control law 10A NCAC 41A.0206 for attending an approved course.

Intended for infection preventionists in hospitals, this week-long course will give participants the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the interface between specific hospital areas and infection control. The course includes information on sterilization, disinfection, antibiotic utilization, infections in high-risk groups, and epidemic situations. Infection Control Part I is not a prerequisite for this course. Cost is $500 for NC residents, $550 for out-of-state residents.

This two and a half day program held every spring and fall is designed to provide participants with current and practical information for the recognition and management of common infection prevention issues in non-acute care facilities. Cost is $325 for NC residents, $350 for out-of-state residents.
NOTE: This course has been approved as meeting the requirements of the NC Infection Control law 10A NCAC 41A.0206 for healthcare workers in the Long-Term Care setting.

This review course is intended for Infection Preventionists who are preparing for the Certification Board for Infection Control (CBIC) certification exam. This course is NOT for those seeking to satisfy the requirements of 10A North Carolina Administrative Code 41A.0206 (see below).
