About the Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology

The Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology
(SPICE) is
located at the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
It is funded by the State of North Carolina. The Area Health
Education Centers Program provides travel support.
SPICE is charged with
investigating and
controlling healthcare-associated infections in hospitals, long-term care
facilities,
and other medical facilities in the state. The program provides
training, education, and consultation to hospitals, long-term care
facilities, and other medical facilities to prevent and control
healthcare-associated
infections.
