Latina⁄o

The Carolina Latina/o Collaborative, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, Carolina Hispanic Student Association, and other Latina⁄o student organizations work closely together to support a variety of Latina⁄o Recruitment Programs. These programs are designed to assist Latina⁄o high school Juniors and Seniors in obtaining information that may be helpful in making sound decisions about college. These programs also give you a chance to see what life is like at UNC, and to get to know the Carolina community of Latina⁄o students.

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to establish networks of support with other Latina⁄o students who will be first year students. You'll also spend time with selected faculty, staff, and undergraduate students who will answer questions about academic life, financial aid, housing, and social life here at Carolina. For more information on Latina⁄o programs contact Gabriel Retana by email or at (919) 843-6086.

Why Latina⁄o?

In accordance with official university policy, Diversity and Multicultual Affairs uses gender inclusive terminology. Because “Latino” is a gendered term denoting the masculine, Diversity and Multicultual Affairs utilizes the gender inclusive term “Latina/o” in all official documents, correspondence, and promotional materials and asks that all external administrative, promotional, and media related documents about Diversity and Multicultual Affairs also employ this gender inclusive terminology.
