A Time to Break Silence: An Interactive Discussion | 7:00 pm | FedEx Global Center, Nelson Mandela Auditorium
Initiate. To commemorate the legacy of MLK’s speech, the Campus Y will host “A Time to Break Silence” — a moderated Q&A with legendary football coach and activist Coach Herman Boone (portrayed by Denzel Washington in the film Remember the Titans). Come and explore how one football coach took a bold stand for racial equality in the divided city of Alexandria, VA. Coach Boone will share lessons and anecdotes from the 1971 football season at T.C. Williams High School and help us explore how everyone can continue to break silence and take a stand for equality. Sponsor: Campus Y. Contact: Anna Thornton at afthornt@live.unc.edu or Brandon Wong at bwong24@live.unc.edu.
