The scholarships are open to all seniors enrolled in the Chapel Hill-Orange County School System.

Students may apply directly or be nominated by a colleague or faculty/staff member.

 

Application criteria

Named in the honor of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights pioneer, this award has been given annually since 1993 to recognize local Orange County students’ commitment to service and community leadership. Scholars are chosen based on academic GPA, financial need, and contributions to the Chapel Hill-Orange County communities. The scholarship is open to all high school seniors who are currently enrolled in the Chapel Hill-Orange County School System. The Scholarship award range is $1000- $1500. Selected candidates will be required to participate in an interview on April 12, 2013.
