From I-40 East (Raleigh)

  1. Take I-40 East (Watch for the separation of I-85 and I-40 just east of Efland) to exit 266 – Highway 86.
  2. Turn right. Highway 86 becomes Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (Historic Airport Rd.).
  3. Stay on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. 4.1 miles to the Franklin Street traffic light. Turn left.
  4. The Morehead Planetarium is on the right about a half-mile after turning on Franklin Street.

From I-85 South (Atlanta, Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem)

  1. Take I-85 South to 15-501 South.
  2. Continue 1.6 miles past the I-40 interchange and take the Franklin Street exit, which veers off to the right—Morehead Planetarium and Franklin Street signs precede the exit by a half block.
  3. Proceed on Franklin Street for 2.6 miles.
  4. The Morehead Planetarium is located on the left about a half block after the traffic light at Hillsborough Street (labeled Raleigh Street as it enters from the left).

From I-85 North (Washington DC, Richmond, Durham)

  1. Follow I-85 to intersection with Highway 15-501 South.
  2. Follow 15-501 South towards Chapel Hill; the highway will divide.
  3. Proceed on Franklin Street for 2.6 miles.
  4. The Morehead Planetarium is located on the left about a half block after the traffic light at Hillsborough Street (labeled Raleigh Street as it enters from the left).

From Pittsboro and the Sandhills area)

  1. Take 15-501 North into Chapel Hill.
  2. After crossing over Fordham Blvd. (otherwise known as the 54/15-501 bypass) the road becomes Columbia Street.
  3. Proceed for 1.5 miles (7 stoplights).
  4. Turn right at the eighth traffic light—Franklin Street.
  5. The Morehead Planetarium is on the right about a half-mile after turning on Franklin Street.
