Gordon H. DeFriese, Ph.D.
A professor in the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, and Dentistry, Gordon DeFriese is former director of the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research and was the founding director of the UNC Institute on Aging.
He is the president and CEO of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine, a public policy advisory body created by the North Carolina General Assembly to advise the governor, state government agencies, and the General Assembly on matters related to health.
He speaks throughout the state and nation on health and health care, prevention, aging, and personal health services.
