Paul Hardin III, J.D.
As UNC-Chapel Hill's chancellor from 1988 to 1995, Paul Hardin led the University through its Bicentennial Observance, including the Kenan Stadium gathering on October 13, 1993, in which President William Clinton was the principal speaker.
The Campaign for Carolina, conducted alongside the Observance, raised a record $440 million to jumpstart Carolina's third century of excellence, and the Carolina Speakers program was launched as on of several Bicentennial initiatives emphasizing outreach to North Carolina and beyond.
Chancellor Emeritus Hardin, semi-retired and living in Chapel Hill, likes to refer to himself as head cheerleader for his successors in the chancellorship and enjoys bringing news of Carolina to Tar Heel enthusiasts everywhere.
