Sharon S. Mújica, M.A.
Mújica has been the director of outreach for the Duke - University of North Carolina Program in Latin American Studies and the UNC Institute of Latin American Studies since the early 1990s. Before accepting the position, she lived and worked in Mexico for twenty years.
The outreach activities she organizes include a yearly Latin American film festival held on seven campuses in North Carolina, in-service workshops for North Carolina educators, and a yearly two-week institute for college faculty in the mid-South region of the United States. She administers the program of language instruction of the Summer Intensive Course in Yucatec Maya, and is also in charge of the field component of the course. Through the UNC Summer School, she takes a group of students and faculty to Yucatán, Mexico, each summer.
