Laura Nasir, RN, MSN, FNPLaura Nasir, RN, MSN, FNP

Laura Calamos Nasir is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her MSN at the University of North Carolina, where she focused on rural community oriented primary care (COPC).

Her BSN is also from the University of North Carolina, and in 1997, she received an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for her work in hospice outreach in rural communities of North Carolina.

Since 2002, Laura has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in rural areas of North Carolina and in a city health department serving underserved and uninsured populations. Her practice includes experience in family practice, pediatrics, women’s health, STD treatment, and non-pharmacological pain management. Her special interests are in the areas of community-based programs, including the development of free clinics, patient-centered educational efforts, cross-cultural communication, and global health initiatives.

    - Accessing the information you need, when you need it.

    - How to understand confusing research results, e.g. HRT (women’s hormones).
