Daniel K. Nelson, M.S., C.I.P. Daniel K. Nelson, M.S., C.I.P.

Daniel Nelson is associate professor of Social Medicine and Pediatrics and director of the Office of Human Research Studies. Trained in medical physiology, he previously held faculty appointments at the Mayo Clinic, with a fellowship conducting human studies in Europe, and at the University of Rochester, where he was director of research in a clinical gastroenterology unit and chair of a hospital board (the IRB) that guards the interests of research subjects.

Nelson is president of the Applied Research Ethics National Association, a founding member of the Council for Certification of IRB Professionals, and served as liaison to President Clinton's National Bioethics Advisory Commission.
