Free English as a Second Language (ESL) services for UNC undergraduate students (including incoming Study Abroad exchange students)
Watch a video introduction to ELAC services!


Orientation workshops for all new (and continuing!) undergraduate, transfer, and exchange students. Topics include participating in class, understanding American culture, and listening to lectures. Special kick-off event: "How to Succeed in an American Classroom."
Free workshops on topics such as grammar, pronunciation, presentation skills, and CV/resume writing. Workshops take place at different times and locations.

Small groups of students working on similar papers share, read, and discuss their writing. An ESL Specialist can help with language, style, and writing process. Useful for all classes, including English 100-102.
Practice presentations, conversation, or discussion in small groups of non-native speakers. An ESL Specialist provides language and pronunciation help.
