THE WRITING CENTER'S NEW HOME
Where did Writing Center go?
On July 16, the Writing Center moved from the basement of Phillips Annex to the lower level of the new Student and Academic Services Building (SASB). The building is located on the corner of Manning Drive and Ridge Road, near the Ramshead complex and the Morrison dormitory. You can see our new location on a campus map (SASB is pink). For a road map or directions, visit Google Maps and search for "Ridge Road and Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC" or visit the SASB information page and follow the link that says "Click Here for Directions." Our phone number (962-7710), email (writing_ctr@unc.edu), and web address remain unchanged. We are currently closed for tutoring but will reopen when fall classes begin on August 21.
How can I get to the new location?
The RU, U, NU, SU, A, CM, FCX, N, S, and V buses pass by SASB. For information on bus schedules, see the Chapel Hill Transit website. Walking from Student Stores to SASB will likely take you 10-15 minutes. Plan to arrive a little early for your first visit to our new space so that you have plenty of time to find us.
Who else will be in SASB?
The Learning Center, Disability Services, the Registrar, the Cashier's Office, Scholarships and Student Aid, Housing, the Honor System, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Dean of Students, the LGBTQ Center, Recruitment and Multicultural Programs, and others will either move to SASB or have representatives there.
Who will be in the basement of Phillips Annex?
Some of the math department's teaching assistants and the Math Help Center will be moving into Phillips Annex in the fall.
