More about Lonnie Bunch: A scholar, public historian and author, Dr. Bunch has written on a wide range of topics from all-Black towns to race and memory. Among his publications are articles, books, book chapters, and exhibition catalogues, including The Challenge of Interpreting National History in a Global Age (2000); Seeking El Dorado: The Black West (2003); and The American Presidency: A Glorious Burden (2000). Dr. Bunch has also served as the Curator of History for the California Afro-American Museum , a Curator at the National Museum of American History and later its Assistant Director of Curatorial Affairs, and the President-C.E.O. of the Chicago Historical Society (2001-05). In recognition of his scholarship and accomplishments in public history, Dr. Bunch was appointed by President George Bush to the Commission for the Preservation of the White House.
