About the Awards
The University Diversity Award recognizes significant contribution to the enhancement, support and/or furtherance of diversity on the campus and in the community. The award is given annually in each of the eight categories listed below. The University Diversity Awards committee invites nominations for the award beginning February 1. All nominations must be received by March 1, 2012. The awards will be presented at a reception in the spring.
Categories:
Individuals and units are eligible for the award every four years- Faculty
- Staff
- Undergraduate Student
- Graduate/Professional Student
- Student Organization
- Academic Unit
- Administrative Unit
- Community Member or Organization
Recipients of the award will be honored at a reception in the spring.
Criteria for the awards are
- Demonstrated and sustained passion for the advancement of diversity
- Demonstrated and sustained contribution to the state of diversity at Carolina
- Demonstrated and sustained commitment to the advancement of some aspect of diversity
- Achievements in support of Diversity Plan goals and/or demonstrated diversity improvement efforts
Please note:
The University Diversity Awards are intended for those who go above and beyond their assigned duties to promote diversity, therefore employees who have diversity education, management or compliance as their primary or secondary job responsibilities are not eligible for the award unless they have made an extraordinary contribution beyond their employment role.
