  1. Who is eligible to attend NCR? ?
    The program invites high school sophomores, particularly from rural counties of North Carolina.
  2. How much does NCR cost?
    The program is absolutely free. Everything from housing, food, and transportation while you are at UNC will be covered by us.
  3. When is NCR 2013?
    NCR 2013 is May 15-18.
  4. What is the purpose of NCR?
    NCR seeks to inspire gifted young scholars to pursue their educational dreams and to broaden the scope of their experiences as they look to the future.
  5. What types of activities will participants of NCR engage in during the week?
    During the week students will engage academic seminars, social functions, and cultural activities
  6. When does the application open/close?
    The application process will begin in the Winter of 2013
  7. Do I have to be nominated by a counselor to attend NCR?
    No, you do not have to be nominated by a counselor to attend NCR. If you are interested in applying on your own, please contact our office at (919) 843-6086.

  1. When is NCR?
    NCR 2013 is May 15-18.
  2. What is the purpose of the NCR?
    NCR seeks to inspire gifted young scholars to pursue their educational dreams and to broaden the scope of their experiences as they look to the future
  3. Will I receive payment for working NCR?
    No you will not receive payment. However, food and housing is completely free for counselors during the program.
  4. Is there a minimum GPA requirement to participate at a counselor?
    Yes. Counselors must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.
  5. Can I apply to be a counselor even if I am enrolled in summer school?
    Yes. Counselors are allowed to attend summer school while working for NCR.
  6. What type of counselor is NCR looking for?
    NCR is looking for Carolina students who are diverse, open-minded, positive, responsible, time-efficient.
  7. When does the application for staff open?
    Applications will be available online beginning November 19.
  8. What are my roles as a counselor?
    As a counselor you will expected to fill in the roles of guardian, mentor and friend to high school students.

  1. What is the cost of this program?
    The program is absolutely free.
  2. When is NCR?
    NCR 2013 is May 15-18.
  3. What are the benefits of attending NCR?
    Students who attend NCR will have the opportunity to explore UNC and all the opportunities that it has to offer. Students will also be able to connect with high schools students around North Carolina who have similar goals as well.
  4. What type of high school student is NCR looking for?
    NCR looks for students from rural counties and/or underrepresented populations around North Carolina who show great academic promise.
  5. How do I go about nominating a student?
    Guidance Counselors will receive a nomination packet in the winter of 2013. If you have any questions or concerns about the nomination process, please contact our office at (919) 843-6086.
  6. Is a Guidance Counselor nomination required to attend NCR?
    While we do encourage counselor nominations, students are more than welcome to contact our office individually for further information about applying.
