Diversity Training Opportunities

Diversity Training for Departments, Units and Organizations:

Past Training Events:

NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute) Training: The Welcoming Diversity Train the Trainer Workshop | January 23-25, 2007 | 8:00-5:00 p.m. | Camp New Hope, Chapel Hill, NC | Pre-registration is required.

Would you like to share diversity training with peers across campus? Are you interested in becoming part of an on-going collaborative group that offers diversity training to the UNC campus? Cherie Brown, NCBI's Executive Director, will lead this NCBI Train-the-Trainer workshop. The workshopis an intensive and interactive three-day course that teaches participants how to lead the highly effective and publicly-acclaimed Welcoming Diversity / Prejudice Reduction Workshop. The NCBI train-the-trainer model offers important qualities: Participants meet often in small learning groups where they receive individual coaching and practice in leading major workshop components. The combination of emotional healing work and practical skill training enables participants to learn quickly in a safe environment that values individual initiative. NCBI's seasoned training teams, representing a wide variety of backgrounds, coupled with the diversity of the participants in the seminar, provide a valuable resource that helps participants better understand their similarities and differences and learn valuable bridge-building skills.

An Introduction to NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute) Training: The Welcoming Diversity Workshop | December 7, 2006 | 8:30-12:00 noon | Frank Porter Graham Student Union | Pre-registration is required.

Would you like to share diversity training with peers across campus? Are you interested in learning more about becoming an NCBI certified trainer? This workshop is designed to introduce students, faculty and staff to the approaches of NCBI diversity training through an experiential learning program. NCBI's award-winning Welcoming Diversity / Prejudice Reduction Workshop is a one-day, experiential program that has been presented to thousands of schools, colleges and universities, corporations, government agencies, trade unions, religious institutions, community organizations, and other groups throughout the world. Participants interested in becoming Welcoming Diversity Workshop leaders may subsequently choose to enroll in a Welcoming Diversity Train-the-Trainer on January 23-25, 2006 (see below). This three-day training offers participants the chance to earn a certificate confirming their ability to lead the NCBI one-day workshop, Welcoming Diversity, and the opportunity to become part of a local NCBI team with ongoing support and resources. Workshop leader: Betsy Ayankoya, NCBI Certified Trainer and Technical Assistance Specialist with the National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (NECTAC) at UNC Chapel Hill
